LA is just a great big Freeway

But Bozeman is not-yet from some of the drivers I've witnessed in our little corner of the world, I'm sure it's just a miracle that our beautiful, serene town doesn't have as many dead people from traffic accidents as the California Freeway system has.
A few weeks ago, driving west on Main approaching the red light at 19th in the right lane...the vehicle in the left lane, going about 55 in the 35 zone, just blew right past the light-if anyone had been unfortunate enough to be travelling on 19th at that moment..well, you would have read the gory details the next morning. And that's just one of many incidents which miraculously didn't end in tragedy that I've seen recently-Traffic lights and stop signs in this town may just as well be Christmas decorations for all the attention people pay to them. They seem to be more like an inconvenience to all too many people rather than a way to prevent them from being killed.
Just amazing how stop signs, especially at smaller intersections,
are virtually ignored. Wake up people-drive like your life depends on it, because-SURPRISE-IT DOES!!!

Spring driving byrachelanne6 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I think this is a yearly trend. Each spring, as the snow starts to melt, the white knuckle drivers loosen their grips. Then, as the hands come off the wheel, they tend to wander to create a more leisurly driving ambiance; they roll down windows and turn up the stereo. I've seen it happen. Hell, I did it myself almost 8 years ago. Lesson learned.
All I can suggest is to not be one of those people who get a little too loose because the roads seem safer. Instead, remember that we share the roads and should do all we can to be more aware of the attitudes around us.
