About Chalet Sports:
Great location, downtown Bozeman. Chalet Sports has a huge selection of outdoor gear, skiing equipment, bikes and more. They have a huge selection of clothing for men, women and children and have a very helpful staff. I really like their kids selection and their shoe selections. Fun place to shop!

I've had three bad experiences at RoundHouse that have me hesitant to shop there. Customer service, particularly in a college town, is hit or miss depending on time of year etc etc. It's not limited to any one store so I wouldn't judge by just one bad experience.

I'm glad my gear quiver is full these days and I don't really need to shop for more (although World Boards will be getting a nice chunk of $ when I replace my snowboard this fall).

As long as I don't get too much of the over the top "yo dude bra" attitude at a shop I'll usually be back.

"EGORE" at Ski Chalet byberrymountain1 month ago 0 of 0 readers thought this was helpful
We shopped at the Chalet in the 70's and early 80's. At that time, price, quality, customer service was comprable to the Round House. (Really...where else would one go to buy equipment...)

Last fall I contacted the Chalet with a request of putting 5 ski packages together. I also wanted to know if the Chalet could put together these packages with last years stock. The kids and I do not need the latest year equipment, but I wanted new. I also wanted to avoid the "swap meet." (new/old stock)

The employee I'll refer to as "Egore" let me know he was really put out, said he "could go downstairs" and look for some equipment. Made me feel like I was asking for a handout! The best Egore could was start quoting prices for bindings (mind you last years stock!) at a minimum of $165.00 and skis that would not match for about $200.00. He made it clear he wasn't interested. (Get out of our fancy "downtown" store looser...)

I politely told 'EGORE" that he really did not need to bother himself by going "downstairs" into the Chalet DUNGEON to pick through their leftover's and then overcharge me for them. No, I didn't really say that. I just kind of thanked him for his "time" and left, knowing I WILL NEVER RETURN OR RECOMMEND THE CHALET TO ANYONE, EVER.

Not kidding folks. Ok, the fellow's name was likely not Egore, but he did state grudgingly, that he'd have to go down into the basement to find these great deals.

Here's the deal. I was so disgusted I ended up eBaying almost all our equipment, (06-07 new equipment) and got SCREAMIN' DEALS for most of the family! The remaining equipment and outerwear we purchased at the ROUNDHOUSE.

Guess what? The ROUNDHOUSE was not only too happy to assist us with the remaining purchases, but arranged for the bindings to be put on all the skis (bought on eBay) and kindly assisted us with finding any missing pieces such as poles and all outerwear including goggles, helments, etc., things one must buy in person for safety reasons or properly fitting clothing.

Yup, I laid out a good amount at the Round House, and was happy when I we were finished. The employees had no problem "where" the equipment we brought in came from, and simply DID THEIR JOB, by helping us with what we needed. They also did not sniff up their noses, when I stated that I was on a budget. Imagine...A FRIENDLY UPSCALE STORE IN BOZEMAN!

So, the CHALET and "EGORE" sniffed their noses up, at my request to put together some ski packages. (Does the Downtown Business Association have a special class required by all who work uptown called "Excelling in Snotty Service?"

"EGORE" practically chased me off, by quoting outrageous prices on (new/old stock) he said was stored in their basement.

Here's some advice for all private business owners in Bozeman. You no longer have a MONOPOLY on BOZEMANITES. The OWNERS and employees should read a book called "The Customer Signs Your Paycheck."

If you treat the customers like dog do do, don't expect us to come back, and STOP YOUR WHINING!

Ski & Bike repair too. bysouthward1 month ago 0 of 0 readers thought this was helpful
I don't have much cause to shop there, but working up the street I watch a steady stream of people bringing their bikes and skis in to get tuned. They seem to sell a lot of cruiser-style bikes to people looking for casual transport.

It is a nice shop with recent renovations as they expanded into the old Charlie's space a couple years back. Not sure what the color of their carpet has to do with anything except making the last review come off like a troll.

Kind of trashy byWestside4Life3 months ago 0 of 1 readers thought this was helpful
You might find what you want, but the store could use a big merchandising make over. Enough with the fake green astro turf. They are getting their butts kicked by the other flashier stores on 19th.

Its a place where college kids shop to get new Patagonia jackets, which is fine, if you want to look like everybody else...
